My Favourite Moisturisers

I have tried and tested an awful lot of moisturizers and have certain tubs and bottles to do different things, so I decided to make up some fun moisture(eee) related titles to award to my favourites.
So here goes..

Lazy Lotion

Nivea In Shower Body Moisturiser for dry skin £5.10 400ml

I saw the advert for this moisturiser on the television and thought it to be the easy way out, this appealed to me as I can rarely be bothered smothering myself in lotion just to stand and wait for it to seep in before I can get dressed. I then passed it in SuperDrug where it was on offer, and bought it (the first one I bought was the normal one, not the one for dry skin) I tried it out, and loved it! I soon used the 250ml bottle up within 2 weeks. I went to buy another, and came across the one for dry skin and picked up the larger 400ml bottle for £3 (usually £5.10) and loved it even more, although i have to warn you that if you don’t rinse out the shower properly after use it can leave a dangerous super slippery residue in the bottom of the shower.

Quick Quench

Garnier Intensive 7 Days Body Lotion Shea Butter 400ml £4.99

I love this stuff as a quick fix on dry patches that need to be sorted quickly without the dreaded sticky, walking around like a penguin aftermath. It smells fresh and as the formula is very light it absorbs almost instantly. It does the job but i definitely wouldn’t say that the results lasted 7 days like it says it should.

Sensational Scent

Superdrug Plum and Red Cherry Body Butter 200ml £3.69

All Superdrugs body butters smell gorgeous, but this one is my favourite, as you can tell by its winning title it smells great and for me, seems to last ages! I tend to use this more in the winter, as i find that my shins can get quite dry and flakey due to the weather. It also works great for your elbows and knees before tanning! This is a pamper night in product certainly not a quick on the go job, as with most body butters it can take quite a bit longer to absorb into the skin unlike normal moisturizers, but they tend to be more moisturizing due to this.

Mad Moisture

Boots Sanctuary Body Moisture Spray

I love using this after shaving and waxing! It really penetrates the deeper layers of skin that normal moisturizers don’t reach. I also find after tanning , if I apply this to my legs it gives them a really healthy sheen. I’m not sure the price of this product as I got it at Christmas.
FINALLY – The moisturizer that is everyone of these put together!

KEDEM Mango Body Butter & Mango and Kiwi Body Scrub

Kedem Cosmetics has been developed and manufactured by the esteemed Paloma Dead Sea Ltd., the world’s first cosmetic lab to commercially develop and market skin and therapeutic products based on dead sea minerals, salts and muds.

The Kedem range of products are manufactured and imported directly from Israel, where only the finest original dead sea minerals and other natural ingredients are used. Kedem cosmetics is a Paraben-free cosmetic range that offers safe and natural skin care products, that includes facial and body creams, masks, scrubs, salts, butters and soaps.

Our extensive range is a result of over 20 years of research and development of dead sea skin care products.

I have been wanted to speak about this brand for ages ITS INCREDIBLE. Although buying it can be a little confusing. I got this as a present and when I soon realised how amazing it was I thought I would look up where to buy it in the future, this is where the problems started. I found on another blog someone who was having the same problem as me and they said that the official way to buy it was from the ‘kedemcosmetics’ shop on ebay but they were selling one tub for around £60 which I thought was crazyyy, BUT understandable for the quality. I then decided to search around a little myself and find out if there was any other way. I found out that this brand has been sold at stalls in various shopping centers across the country which is where most people have heard about them. I also found what seems to be THE Kedem site, but its South African and everything is in ZAR’s (eg. 500R) The Body Butter was R175.00 which I worked out to be £11.36 which was a large jump in price from the £60, but then worked out the shipping and realised it would actually work out more expensive to have it delivered from South Africa. THEN i found their facebook page, where i found that they sell their products in St Enochs centre in Glasgow, and I am sure if you post a comment you could find out where the nearest seller to you is.

Now the actual product smells incredible, it was the first thing that i noticed. It comes in a glass tub which is very pretty and one you wouldn’t mind sitting in your bathroom for all to see. Its thick and creamy and unlike most body butters it is quick to absorb. If you team it with the Body Scrub pictured with it, then you’ll be in heaven. The scrub on its own it is moisturizing enough, it smells incredible, gets rid of all dead skin, and works great for smoothing everything down before applying fake tan. I’m finding it hard to explain just how it feels, but just believe me when I say its incredible. Honestly the best scrub I have ever used.

FashionistA Cosmetics

This brand isn’t very well known but really should be!! Now owned by MUA, you can purchase their products online at MUA (all products currently 60% off) or at Superdrug (all products currently 50% off)
LOVE how pigmented their eyeshadows, blushes, bronzers and highlighters are, i truly am impressed especially how inexpensive they are.

£1.65 for a single

Fill a 4 pallete for £7

or

a 6 pallete for £10!

I took advantage of this fabulous offer and ordered some colours that i wouldn’t necessarily go for, and have also found some products which have become part of my daily makeup collection and would find it hard to do without (slight exaggeration)

BlushersBlushers – top left: ‘Crimson’ top right: ‘Blushing Coral’

bottom left: ‘London’  bottom right: ‘Milan’

The bottom two blushers are part of the FashionistA ‘double take’ collection and are baked, my favourite is ‘London’ as the peachy undertones are great for my skin tone and for everyday, ‘Blushing Coral’ is extremely pigmented and a gorgeous colour with a slight golden shimmer running through it, you only need a very small amount to get a strong colour (i have warned you). I find that the whole ‘double take’ collection to be a lot less powdery than the normal ones – not that this changes the quality of the product!

Bronzers
Bronzers – top left: ‘Tokyo’ top right: ‘Dubai’ Highlighters – bottom left: ‘Nude Glimmer’ (this is actually an eyeshadow) bottom right: ‘Barcelona’

‘Tokyo’ has become my all time favourite matte(ish) contouring bronzer, i use it almost everyday, it blends superbly and is just the right shade! I say its matt-ish as i believe there is a very small amount of sheen that comes from it, its barely noticable but is there. I also use ‘Barcelona’ every time i highlight and use ‘Nude Glimmer’ on my brow bone everyday as the pink undertones are very natural looking. Its also great for the inner corner of the eye to add a bit of brightness!

Everyday Eyeshadows
top row, left -> right   ‘Stylish’, ‘Couture’, ‘Exclusive Collection'(no name)
bottom row, left -> right ‘Auburn Glow’, ‘Berry Brown’, ‘Fashion House’

I created this palette for only £10, with the intention of it being my everyday shadows, which they now are. Four of them are from the ‘double take’ collection, and are probably my favourite! ‘Fashion House’ is insane, it looks black with gold and cream running through it but when swatched it has green undertones and becomes an almost khaki colour. Its beautiful but would suggest blue eyes stay clear. ‘Stylish’ is shimmery cream colour with gold and bronze which become very visible when in certain sunlight, this colour is very flattering and stays put throughout the day with my normal primer.

Purples
top left: ‘Icey’   top right: ‘Bewitched’  bottom left : ‘Embellished’   bottom right: ‘Flamboyant’

These i bought mainly because of the offer MUA had on their site, i was unsure about these colours but thought i’d give it a go, and i am so so so glad i did. Just like the rest of the shadows, these were super pigmented and great quality, i was just unsure if i could pull this colour off… I tried out a smokey eye using the four colours, and loved it! For me its a perfect dramatic evening ‘going out’ look and i am very sure that i will be supporting it most weekends throughout the holidays (especially christmas)!

Eyes

The only thing i would say is that the ‘double take’ ‘Bewitched’ needs built up, but i mean no more than two ‘layers’. I love that this eyeshadow has larger, almost specks of glitter through it, usually i find this quite tacky and off putting but it really works with this colour!

Overall a GREAT review of the products i have tried, i’m not sure if i will purchase their other products such as the mascaras, brow kits or eyeliner, just because i can’t find better than i already use and i am afraid to be disappointed by this brand and would rather end on a high than finish on a low!!!

If you would like to know what other products i used in the look above or how i achieved this look, don’t be afraid to contact me  as i would love to chat!

All £4-£5 depending on shop

‘2 sexy – big volume – push up – volumizing hair spray’

I love this hairspray and is my 2nd favourite ever! It smells incredible. It doesn’t leave your hair crunchy or dark and dull, it gives it a natural shine, i like to use this on freshly curled hair to set it and also on ‘next day’ curls to give them a bit more bounce and body.

‘Glued – blasting freeze spray’

This is great for some major backcombing, its very sticky, which is both good and bad, if you spray this on your hair you’no that its not going to budge. I feel that this hairspray often weighs my hair down and can make my roots look a little dull. It too smells amazing, and leaves your hair smelling of the tropics!!

‘Guardian Angel – Heat Protectant’

I barely use heat on my hair as i prefer the way it looks natural, however if i fancy something a little different, like a head of bouncy curls, i reach for this. I find its best applied through damp hair as its easier to get an even application than on dry.

‘Powder’ful – Volumizing Hair Powder’

This is a very exciting product, and i was looking forward to having big big hair (The higher your hair the closer you are to heaven) it did achieve these results but it wasn’t very enjoyable to use, it left my hair almost fused together at the roots, which was ever so painful to brush out, and when brushed out it left my hair weighed down a greasy. The product comes out as a powder but out the bottle it seems to instantly change into a sticky dusty mess. Overall it did what it said on the tin but wasn’t at all pleasant. I avoid using this.

‘Oil-licious – Styling Oil’

I actually purchased this during a weekend away when i realised i had forgotten to pack my Argan Oil , so i thought that this would be an interesting substitute to use over the few days, also as it was on offer for only £2.75. I enjoyed using this but still not as much as my ‘Go To’. I will defo keep this in my travel bag or in my purse for emergencies!

Sheer Creme Eyeshadow
(tempting glimmer)

I have a small collection of Calvin Klein bits and bobs, bought from various discount shops as all products are discontinued and no longer sold in department stores. Some of these products have been good buys but some have been a real disappointment!

When i tried these out in the shop i found them to be VERY pigmented when swatched on the back of my hand, and along with the fact that there was a deal on for 3 for £5 i bought them with the hope of using them as eyeshadow bases.

I got the colours (left to right) snakeskin silver, cashmere plum and bare silk.

I used ‘bare silk’ the next day, over my eyeshadow primer and under my normal eyeshadow, it looked great, it made my usual eyeshadow stand out even greater, i even used it to highlight my brow bone. However, only a few hours later after strolling the street my eyeshadow was creased, my eyelids were oily and my makeup look horrendous!! Over the rest of the week i discovered that these products were terrible for everything except highlighting my brow bone, but even then, i can only use ‘bare silk’ for this. Thumbs Down.

Creme Lipstick

Next up, these were the first ever Calvin Klein Cosmetic products that i bought, and was impressed, i think i got them for only £3 each, which i think is a bargain!
I have the shades ‘Venus’ and ‘Orange Too’ , the picture doesn’t show just how orange and bright ‘Orange Too’ is, they are both very pigmented and actually quite moisturising. I do have to reapply this lipstick throughout the day but i don’t see this as reason not to buy more if i have the chance! Thumbs Up.

Pictured next to the lipsticks is the Mega Volume Mascara in Black.

Wand

I dislike this Mascara as it just doesn’t live up to my current one, the wand is cheap looking and feels cheap also, it’s one of those products that i won’t throw out incase of a mascara emergency but i will not buy it again.. Thumbs Down.

Splendid Colour Nail Enamel

Next Up, the Splendid Colour Nail Enamel in colours ‘French Tip’ and ‘Ebony hates Chris’

These are great and one coat worthy! ‘French Tip’  is 13ml whereas the black is only 10ml – i guess thats the only explanation for the packaging being slightly different. There is a wide range of manly very vivid colours, so if you can find them, it would be great to pick some up for summer!! Thumbs Up.

Large Powder Brush
Eyeshadow Brush

Finally the most exciting! These are incredible, they are synthetic, extremely soft and they pick up a perfect amount of colour. They look sleek and expensive which for me they were not, i got the Powder Brush for £5 and the Eyeshadow Brush for £3 – what a bargain! I definitely plan on buying a few others in the future! MEGA Thumbs Up!

My First Ever GlossyBox

“Glossybox is a monthly beauty subscription service, which delivers 5 beauty samples wrapped in a beautiful box straight to your door.”

This concept first became popular in the US, and remember hoping that it would eventually come to the UK, after forgetting about it for years, it finally popped back up. GlossyBox has been up and running for just over a year now in the UK, and seems increasingly popular.

Packaging

I only joined this month, so have received this months ‘June’ box. It was like Christmas. It was beautifully packaged!

It comes with a leaflet telling you exactly what you have inside, how much it is, the best of its uses and where to buy it!

photo

The products i received (right) came to a total of  just  under £20 which is pretty good value (if you’ll use the stuff) for the £12.95 it cost me including shipping!

NUXE – Huile Prodigieuse OR’ – This was my favourite sample from the box, this multi-purpose oil was full of gorgeous gold shimmer, i feel like it hydrates my face like no other moisturizer i have tried, although i have never tried an oil on my face before, compared to moisturizer it was incredible! It brightened my skin and seeped in almost immediately.  I am going to try a cheaper High Street alternative before forking out £34 for the full size.  100ml for £34.00

Figs&Rouge – Cherry Blossom Lip Balm – I LOVE this stuff!! It is 100% pure and natural and contains no petroleum jelly, it smells like cherries (funny that) and is slightly tinted, the colour is the exact colour of my lips but still gives a little shimmer. Its great for keeping in my handbag and is affordable BUT i dislike the application, the product seems to get all clogged up around the end, which is such a waste as i feel i need to constantly wipe it off! 12.5ml for £5.00

JohnFrieda – Frizz Ease Original Serum – I wasn’t overly excited when i saw this, as i know that i will never stop using my Argan Oil which doubles up as a serum when my hair is a little frizzy, i will probably pass this on to a friend or keep it in my handbag for humid emergencies. 50ml for £6.29

MEMEME – Long Lasting Nail Gloss – I tried this nail varnish out the other day, i found it streaky but dried quickly and i only needed one coat, the colour i recieved wouldn’t have been my first choice but maybe i will get some more use out of it after summer, as the colour is a little too dark for me. Full size £5.00

Q- radiance Body spray – Not really my thing, the scent was overpowering and much too floral so i have nothing great to say about it apart from that its cheap.. 😦 £2.29
